Trying New Things

(Sorry, it was brought to my attention that I messed up, apparently there are "two" Wendy Whites...and stupidly I combined the works of both thinking they belonged to the same artist. ...............................................................Woops......my apologies to both Wendys. I've fixed it, the Wendy I'm looking into does more of an "urban decay" look (which I love!), her website is: www.wendywhite.net. Sorry about that!)

Usually I work with realism in art. I am not quite sure why this is, perhaps it is because almost all of my assignments in my art classes have been derived from realism and realism principles till now. It could also be that I have always felt that one needs to know the rules and understand them before they break them.

For my oil painting class Alan (Definetly one of my more fun professors!) is having us choose two abstract artists to study and complete paintings using their styles. I am really excited because though, I have dipped my feet in abstractism I have never full on dived into it before. The two artists I chose from the list he gave us are Elizabeth Peyton, and Wendy White. I can't wait to get started!

Hey, I also like Elizabeth Peyton. How are you liking your art classes? And your first semester at BYU?
